PSL boss Irvin Khoza’s wife laid to rest – In Pictures! “I thank you, my love. You left me with a lot to hold on. ”Those were the final words of Dr. Irvin Khoza, the chairman of the South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) and Orlando Pirates boss.
The words were directed to his late wife Mantwa Khoza during her funeral service.
Mantwa died last Friday due to short illness. She was laid to rest yesterday (25 Jan) at the West Park Cemetery after her funeral service that was held at Orlando Holy Cross Anglican Church in Orlando West.
The church became small for the scores of people who had come in numbers to say their final goodbye to mama Khoza.
Many people had to wait outside the church where there were tents erected, fitted with speakers and TV screens for them to see what was happening inside the church.
Prominent people attended the funeral. They included the likes of ANC secretary-general Ace Magashule, Police Minister Bheki Cele, Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula, businessman Patrice Motsepe, UDM leader Bantu Holomisa and Eff leader Julius Malema amongst many.
The funeral was emotional, however, the Orlando Pirates choir comforted mourners with its sweet melodies.
Speakers described mama Khoza as someone who had a good heart and who always wore a smile on her face.
They said she was a respected businesswoman who cared for others but liked staying behind the scenes.
“She enjoyed the privacy,” said people who knew her who were seated in a tent.Khoza, also known as Iron Duke said his wife believed so much in prayer. He said she always strived to impact other people’s lives positively.
He also took the opportunity to thank the people of Mzansi for their continued support during this difficult time.
“We received your messages of condolences and they gave us comfort. I thank you,” he said. Family member Marcus Xaba said that they will miss mama Khoza and that her place will be filled by no one.
