Gauteng MEC calls for calm and condemns Soweto looting


Gauteng Safety MEC Faith Mazibuko has condemned the looting of foreign-owned shops in Soweto. Stores in Naledi, Tladi, White City and Moletsane were allegedly looted.

Police on Thursday confirmed that seven people have been arrested.

There are numerous claims community members were showing their anger for recent attacks on police officers during raids for counterfeit goods in central Johannesburg.

Mazibuko has called for calm in the aftermath of the conflict. Police said they are monitoring the situation.
